Urmia & Amol Joined Winners of Away Round

Tehran, Iran, February 23, 2021 – Urmia Shahrdari and Amol Labaniat kicked their playoffs battle in the Iran Men’s Volleyball Super League off to brilliant starts on the second day of playoff at Federation Hall.

In the opening match, Yazd Shahdab, the third team of preliminary ranking faced Amol Labaniat, the sixth team of the table. In their last encounters, they could record one win apiece. In their playoff run, Amol Labaniat emerged to beat Yazd Shahdab 3-1 (25-22, 25-18, 14-25, 25-22).

Urmia Shahrdari, the second team of the preliminary round had a difficult task against Gonbad Shahrdari as the seventh team. Gonbad’s players are commonly described as the fighters who are thinking of the ball up to the last minutes. They went 0-3 down to Urmia Shahrdari in week 12 but could overcome them 3-1 in week 20 in the preliminary round.

Entering into the court with the same previous winning record,  both teams were reluctant to lose as they fought for five sets to close the match that finally Urmia favors his national players to earn a tie-breaker win 23-25, 25-22, 25-17, 22-25, 15-9.

Urmia Shahrdari and Amol Labaniat, the winners of the second day of playoff in away round joined Sirjan Foulad and Sepahan Foulad that recorded their first win on the opening day to complete four winners of the away round.

The away round lasted for two days on February 23 and 24 and two-day home round will take place on February 25, 26. The same matches of the away round will be held in the home round.

If the winners of the away round repeat their winning record, the top four teams will enter into final round.
