Men’s Volleyball Premier League
31st edition of Premier League of Iran will set up on Sunday, October 8 that is 12 days earlier than last year.
Men’s Volleyball Premier League in 2017/18 will be held in one preliminary round in the reminiscence of “Shahid Hojaji Cup”.
The premier volleyball league of Iran has twelve participating teams that are Sarmayeh Bank, Tehran Peykan, Tabriz Shahrdari, Sari Saraviyeh, Gonbad, Mazandaran Kaleh, Tehran Saipa, Varamin Shahrdari, and Ardakan Khatam, Urmia Shahrdari, Shams, and Kashan Ra’d-e Padafand.
The participating teams will play the preliminary round into two phases; the top eight teams will move up to play-off that is to be held into three stages, the first of which will witness the top eight teams fighting to find their way up to the next round with three earning wins out of three in the quarterfinal. The matches are to be held in a round-robin system to recognize the top four teams. The losers will go to battle for the 5th to 8th places hence.
The second stage is the semifinal and the third stage is the final match. Noteworthy to add that the better-ranked teams of the preliminary round will find the privilege of hosting the first and third matches of play-offs.
Glorious Teams in Volleyball Premier League
The volleyball club of Paykan is the most honorable team of premier league in Iran with 12 championships, 5 vice-championships, and three bronze medals while being the World’s third team as well as the Asian Championship.
Mazandaran Kaleh as the second honorable team of premier league recorded seven medals including 2 gold, 1 silver, and 4 bronze medals.
Sarmayeh Bank, the last edition’s champion is experiencing their third appearance. Carrying two gold medals, Sarmayeh Bank as 2017 Asian champion will participate in World Club Championship.
Varamin Matin saved the silver medal in his first presence in 2012 while ascending top on podium the next year in 2013.
Saipa is the other experienced team of Iran with six vice-championships, and one bronze medal.
Urmia Shahrdari with 2 silver and 8 bronze medals and Tabriz Shahrdari with 1 silver and 3 bronze medals are the two other teams of premier league placing the next afterwards.
