The hosting of Yazd has significantly strengthened the region’s infrastructure and trained local human resources

President of the Volleyball Federation acknowledged that assigning the hosting duties to provinces like Yazd, which had no prior experience, was a challenging decision. However, it ultimately led to the enhancement of infrastructure and the training of human resources and executive staff in Yazd.

According to the Communications Department of the Volleyball Federation, Milad Taghavi, speaking on the sidelines of the closing ceremony of the 2024 Asian Men’s Club Volleyball Championship, which concluded with Foolad Sirjan’s victory, stated that assigning the hosting duties to provinces like Yazd, which had no prior experience, was a challenging decision. However, it ultimately led to the enhancement of infrastructure and the training of human resources and executive staff in Yazd.

Taghavi praised the unique culture and enthusiasm of the people of Yazd, expressing heartfelt gratitude to the residents who passionately supported and showcased the event. He emphasized that the exceptional hosting by Yazd encourages the Federation to continue granting hosting rights to various provinces.

Regarding the arrival of Roberto Piazza in Iran, Taghavi mentioned that the contract has been signed, and Piazza will enter Iran as soon as his visa is issued, which is expected within a month.

When asked about the presence of Iran’s golden generation of volleyball players, such as Mousavi, in the national team next year, Taghavi stated that the Federation’s national policies will be communicated to the new coach, and they will not interfere in technical matters. He believes that stars like Seyed Mohammad Mousavi, Amir Ghafour, Mojtaba Mirzajanpour, and others have proven their enduring talent in these games.

Taghavi highlighted the importance of the 2026 Asian Volleyball Championship, noting that it will be held in even years and will serve as a qualifier for the Olympics. The champions of the continents will directly participate in the Olympics, making these competitions particularly significant.

Regarding the Federation’s preparations for the participation of Foolad Sirjan and Shahdab Yazd in the 2024 Men’s Club World Championship, Taghavi assured that the Federation will support these teams. The league organization will also ensure that the Iranian Premier League is held with minimal interruptions and damage to the teams participating in the World Club Championship.
